The LIFE ClimaMED project is consistent with the objectives and technical direction of the EU Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming (CRCF) Regulation (2024), particularly in relation to the need for robust, field-based quantification of greenhouse gas emissions and carbon dynamics in agricultural systems. The project has developed and demonstrated an integrated monitoring system (LIDAR-LoRa-CMM), which enables: •continuous, field-level measurement of greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂, CH₄, N₂O), •spatially explicit data collection and processing through a web-GIS platform, and •transparent and traceable reporting of emissions at parcel level. These features directly support key CRCF principles, including quantification based on measurable data, transparency and traceability, and reliable monitoring infrastructures for carbon farming activities. LIFE ClimaMED provides the measurement and data infrastructure necessary to support certification schemes in practice. In this context, the project contributes to bridging the gap between: •policy-level requirements (CRCF) and •field-level implementation, by offering a technically validated system that can be further integrated into future carbon farming and certification mechanisms.
